Kyrell's 18th Month Vaccination & Assessment

Finally the day has come, I was looking forward to it. To have Kyrell assessed by the doctor is like an examination day, to be graded for the 18 mths we have taken to care for Kyrell. And these are his results...

Weight : 11.8 kg / 90% Percentile (Birth : 3.27 kg)
Height : 82.5 cm / 75% Percentile (Birth : 48 cm)
Head Circumference : 49.50 cm / 95% Percentile (Birth : 39.5cm)

On his personal social, he copies what we do/say, can hold his own cup and drink and able to express his wants without crying or whining most times.

On his fine/gross motor skill, Kyrell can perform most of the tasks listed in the health booklet.

On language, he can say more than 3 words as listed in the book. He can tell us most of the items/people. He knows and can say these body parts like head, hair, ear, eye, nose, teeth, tongue, cheek, feet, tummy, elbow, 屁屁... he knows hands, fingers and penis but still cannot say it.
I think the doctor was abit taken aback when she asked me the number of words Kyrell can say - 200 plus.

So his next assessment will be when he is 3 years old. Lets hope everything goes on well too.

Since I have taken the day off, I took no chance to bring him out. After the visit at polyclinic, we took a cab (raining) to Compass Point for lunch. I had ramen at Ajisen while he had his homecooked meal. Kyrell was pretty well behaved throughout, we played with stickers when he got a little impatient while I had ate.

Then we went to Kiddy Palace : bought a sunglass, umbrella and leapfrog phonics radio for him before heading home. It was still raining so his umbrella comes in handy.

I bathed and gave him milk before he fell asleep, almost immediately. It must have been a very tiring day for him.

Vivocity - Just The 2 Of Us

I wasn't feeling well today, abit feverish and has a bad sore throat so I took a day off, saw a doctor in the morning and brought Kyrell out after that. Just the 2 of us, how nice :)

I didn't want to go anywhere too far and along the NEL, Vivocity is an ideal place to go (again - I also brought Kyrell there in Feb hee). We had lunch at Secret Recipe (again!) then shopped around at Daiso, Zara, babyGap, Topshop, Page One and Forever 21.

The lunch was pleasant, Kyrell is pretty well behaved and finished up the whole bowl of lunch I made him and has abit of the orange cake I ordered. He likes the cake, I gave him a pc of the orange slice (pulp), he did not show much expressions but when I asked him if he wanted orange, he said "mai!". So I thought he may not know what I was talking about, showed him the slice and he still insisted on no.. well, I think he doesn't like the taste/texture??

Then we went to change his diaper and he wanted to walk around, gets excited whenever he saw other kids (he likes kids) and when we were in Page One, he wanted to touched everything so it was abit hard to control/catch him haha... oh yah, this is the 1st time I am out with him w/o slinging him. Most time when I am out alone with hi, I will put him in the sling or have a stroller with me. Today, I placed the sling in my backpack and used it only when he gets tired, which he eventually did, at around 3pm+. Was sleeping when I shopped at Daiso but woke up 45mins later.

We walked around abit more before heading home. I am sure he had a great time, I did :)

My lunch

Orange Cake

His new watch which we bought at $5

This packet-drink-holder was bought at Daiso, I like it because Kyrell can't squeezed the drink out from the packet now hehe...

Sleep + Elmo + Boh Pian

We were trying to make Kyrell sleep last night but while doing so, hubby and I were chatting away... then Kyrell pat his daddy's head and said "Dad dad orh orh..." :p We must have disturbed him while he is trying to sleep hehe...

Anyway he did not sleep well last night cos he was coughing away...poor baby.

Maybe that's why he took a long nap at my mum's today - from 1pm to 4pm!
Then it was awake all the way till we bring him home at night. Mum told me he did not seem to cough alot...shall monitor his condition again. But I am glad that despite being unwell, he is still playing and eating well.

Ferrying Elmo in his car :)

My mum has not been feeling well lately so when she carried Kyrell this morning, she can't hold on much longer after awhile, she said "Boh pian liao" in teochew, Kyrell then imitate what she said! When she told me at night, he heard us and repeated "Boh pian", doesn't sound quite like it but still funny keke...

His new Puku chair that makes sounds... sharing seat with Elmo or rather, sitting on Elmo :p

Kyrell Turns 18 Months Today

My baby is finally 1.5 years old and in another 6 months, he will be turning 2 - The Terrible Two!! I can't imagine how terrible he will turn out to be, I hope not!! *fingers crossed*

But really, in my heart, I do not want him to grow up sooooooo fast!! I missed him being little. Yet, everyday, we are growing and learning new things with him, every moment is special and happy. Kyrell has brought so much joy and laughter to us all :)

Perhaps, the biggest satisfaction I have right now is that Kyrell is an endearing boy and speaks quite abit of words at his age - more then 200 words and counting. I hope I do not come out as being a "hao lian" mum but being a 1st time mum, I always thought that boys will usually starts to speak later, probably around 2 yo, yet Kyrell's vocab has amazes me.. I am just exhilarated by it all.

I hope his interest to learn will continue and carry it on to his adulthood. As with most parents, I wanted the best possible for my baby but I have to constantly remind myself not to exert pressure onto him, I want him to enjoy his childhood and learn through play and creativity!

Here's my playful boy at work keke...

Sticker...and everything goes into his mouth~!

Can you recognise the objects baby?

His hungry catepillar perched on his shoulder :)

Being funny here

Biting his Elmo despite being his fav haha..

High Fever

Out of the blue, Kyrell is down with fever and at pretty high level too.. ranging from 38-39 degree. We woke up in early dawn - 5am, to find him feeling abit hot in the air-conditioned room, no wonder he has been calling "mummy" thoughout the night. We were too tired to really take notice because he does this quite often - sleep talking. We took his temperature and monitored him every hour to make sure he is not getting any hotter.

Indeed the temperature went up and by 9am, he was around 38 degree hot. Wouldn't let us paste the fever patch on his forehead either. So we mixed his panadol in his milk for him, he did not finished it too. We decide not to go to work today and brought him to see the GP near our house. When we reached the clinic at 10am, he was at 38.5 degree. There did not seem to be anything wrong, the GP did not mention anything. No cough or flu and lungs were cleared. We were told to monitor him for a few days, some toddler around his age (6mths to 2 yo) will develop high fever persistantly for a few days then followed by rashes after the fever breaks. This will be Roseola. Lets see if this is what Kyrell has contracted...

We suspected it could be due to his teething as he has been salivating ALOT for pass couple of days (even my mum also complaint that the floor were wet hee) and he kept sticking his toungue, making funny faces. And then I noticed 2 budding teeth at the top row. Finally! He has had his 4+4 teeth for awhile already...

We went for brunch at Mcdonald then to NTUC to get some ingredients for our+his meals later. When we were home, he was burning around 39 degree. We bathed and gave him his milk laden with panadol, he finished it this time and he fell asleep right after. The temp dropped to around 38-38.5 degree. He was so much better by late afternoon but his temp went up again by night. He did not poo or perspire that day.

Something we learnt >>> NO PERSPIRATION = SICK

Can you see that his face is redder then usual? His cheeks were red from the fever :(

Doing the 1,2,3!!!

At least he still has the mood to play~

Pizza, Sushi...

Last night when I was about to start the flash cards session on food category, Kyrell surprised me by saying "sushi" the moment he saw the card on sushi!! I am sure this was the result of 3 weeks flashing for I have never taught him this word other then during the session :)

I am beginning to see some progress ever since I started doing flash cards with him, he is able to recognise & say pizza, sushi. He can also say fire engine, salad and flashcards...its time I add in more items and categories into the session, plus I am enjoying it!

The Little Big Club Live Concert

I think I am more excited...hehe...Kim and our family went to TLBC concert this afternoon @ 2pm to catch Barney, Bob the Builder and many more characters performing!

During the drive to EXPO, Kyrell took a 30 mins nap so he woke up fresh when we reached the hall WOOHOO!! He went "Barney" and "Bob" when he saw the poster which surprises me a little cos he was only exposed to these 2 characters during a Starhub Preview on some kids channel (for a month) a few months back!! I think he was astounised to see so many people around and just kept quiet (apart from Barney and Bob) with wided eyed.

When we entered the hall, it was pitched dark and at the other end of the aisle, its the stage with the band and bright colour lights, Kyrell went "WAAH" :p

We found our seats and Kim+family were already there, the performance starts soon after. Kyrell was awake throughout the 1hr30mins and enjoyed himself, occassionally waving his arms and clapping hands. At times, he will stand up and dance. Towards the middle of the performance, he got 'brave' and stand up and kept looking around because there were a lot of kids around us, singing to the song aloud keke...

I enjoyed it myself too... the high priced tickets ($67.6 per pax after 15% off) were worth it!

I shan't say much, the photos and videos speaks for itself, enjoy :)

Presenting to you... Fireman Sam!

After the concert ended, we went to Hall 6 to check out Motherhood Fair, my SIL who was helping out at one of the booth there told me she can get great discount (40% off) from Puku booth. And I end up buying 2 chairs, 2 packets of wipes, 1 water bottle, 1 fork and spoon :p
Then Kim and our family went to SAF Yatch Club for a romantic beach dinner, Kim's hubby - Allen, being the birthday 'boy' today! While walking to the restaurant, we let the boys have a go at the swing and they totally enjoyed it!

I would love to take pix of the beach restaurant but my cam batt died on me. Promised to post next time as we are defintely going back again!
