As much as I hate to admit it, and despite my intial determination to minimise Kyrell's number of hours of watching TV, Kyrell is but a TV Addict!!
If all started when he started coming to my workplace in Jul'09, because watching VCDs was a good way to keep him occupied and quiet for a while when I get on with my work. I bought a portable disc player couple of days after he started coming. He was watching Elmo and Wheels on the bus VCDs then - More educational and age appropriate. Of cos, by Aug, he got quite restless watching them.
Then in mid Oct, while doing some packing at home, we took out the 19" TV which my father has given us, brand new, and we placed it in our living room. Before that, there was no TV for a few months. So after work when we reached home, I will placed Kyrell in his playyard and turned on the TV for him while I do my chores. He would be watching Elmo VCDs.
In end Oct or Nov, we bought UP and showed him, he loves it and always asked to "play again" when it finished, in tears!! This goes on and on.. everyday.. for weeks. On weekdays, we only let him watch in the bedroom, not everyday but close. On weekends, if we were home the whole day or early in the night, we will let him watch.. time and again.. it could be as many as 3-4 times consecutively in a night!! Now, don't be too alarm, it is usually the 2nd disc that we replayed because the time is shorter (usually less then an hr or slightly more) and more exciting. But still, it is getting too much eventually.
So we introduced him to Incredible and Bolt in Dec. He likes them but not as much. He will still asked for "Peh Peh" (aka Mr Fredrickson character in UP). Meanwhile, in Nov, he was also watching Charlotte's Web in the living room, everday, after we are home. He likes this too so when the disc finished, he will cry to watch again, I will replay the 2nd disc for him. This was his 2nd most watched disc following UP.
We all know watching too much TV is not good but that aside, there are some good things that actually came out of it all. Kyrell learnt new names and words, he can speak in sentences on what he watched, he can even hummed the music of UP!!

The most commonly used words that Kyrell says in almost all of these shows are "bad guy" because there is at least one character in each of it who potrays as being bad and will try to hurt the good guy/animal :)
And because there are were or some actions which is deemed not appropriate for kids (or even adults), Kyrell also uses alot of this sentence - "cannot do that, very dangerous" :)
