Jurong Bird Park - 09 May 09

Last night, I was discussing with hubby on where to go today and I proposed JBP since the last time we went, it was almost 4-5 years ago. He wasn't really keen. And, Kim sms me in the morning asking whether we wanted to go to the park together haha! But we decided on another plan (to go to Jas's hse) but did not materialised so at around 2pm, we decides to change plan and go ahead with JBP.

We park our car at Kim's place and then took Allen's car to JBP. We arrived at 4pm and went straight to the bird show which has already started. But the area was too small and too crowded (it was Vesak Day today), we did not manage to get a good location to see the whole show. But when the birds of prey-eagle flew passed our heads, the boys (Kyrell and Mal) looked astonished and ducked their head hehe..

Then we walked abit and decides to take the tram cos the weather was too hot, the guys were perspiring profusely!! The 1st we took, the air-con was spoilt so we alight and waited for another one, much cooler but still not as strong. We went one round and alight at the main station. Bought some drinks and proceed to 'hide' inside the air-conditioned room where the penguins were kept *doink*

After about 20 mins, we left the park. It was quite an disappointment because the park was rather small, did not seem to house alot of variety and it was expensive- cost about $23 per pax incl of tram ride. It was a far cry from my last visit, I remembered I had enjoyed it and seen more birds.. well, its going to be a loooong time later that I will re-visit.

Thereafter, we arranged to meet Jasmine & family for dinner at Banana Leaf Apolo@ Race Course Road, yummy fish head curry!! On the journey, Kyrell finally gave in and fell asleep and he slept through when I am done with my dinner :)
We went home after that.

More Animal Replicas - 08 May 09

My order from Safari arrived! I got 4 tubes from them and I can't wait to let Kyrell play with them. Here's one excited boy!

Animal Replicas - 07 May 09

After being to the zoo and watching Animal Planets channel with us, Kyrell is able to recognise and say the name of some animals, like : Elephant, Tiger, Giraffe, Horse, Sheep, Cow, Monkey etc...

To strengthen his memory, I decide to get him some animal replicas. I have seen some before but felt that Kyrell was too young to understand then. I guess the time now is right.

I went to Cherie Kids at Kovan to check and they sell it. I got myself a box of farm animals ($4.90) and a box of wild jungle animals ($6.90). Needless to say, Kyrell was excited to see my shopping bag the moment I stepped into my mum's but to my surprised, he was screaming "Animals Animals" when I took the box out and it was not even opened! So my boy does know what animals is... I was elated of cos.. I opened the one with the farm animals, washed it and immediately passed to him.

It came with a farm 'map', 2 coconut trees, 2 haystack, 1 log, a gate and a horse/cow/sheep/donkey/turkey/goose/horse/hen. Really value for money for the price I paid. We lay them out and I demonstrated how the horse/cow/sheep ate the haystack with the "mum mum" sound. Then he took the haystack, put into his mouth and goes "mum mum" -_-||

From then on, he always 'eat' the haystack.. haiz... wrong move from me :p

A Day @ Anchorvale CC - 03 May 09

Pet, Kim, Jas, Jas and me.. we linked our hubbies up for a game of badminton while we girls+babies went for a Mcdonald's meal while they played on. I think the guys badly needs some form of exercise and using this chance, to get to know each other better. After all, we mummies will be meeting up often right hehe...

After our mc meal, we went back to the court to wait for the daddies, while doing so, the kiddos went running around, on the stage and outside the court!

We wrap up the evening with dinner at Punggol Marina Club (I think so!).. we (Kim, Pet and me) went for the steamboat buffet which is so-so only but we enjoyed eating the warm food, chatting and chasing after the boys!

Chicken Pox Vaccine - 02 May 09

A month earlier, I have made arrangement for Kyrell to go for the vaccine, the day has come. But the timing is just bad, with the swine flu going on, the polyclinic is packed! Masked nurses are standing at the entrance, taking temperature for everyone and declaration form has to be filled up - we have to indicate whether we have been to swine flu affected countries in the recent months. It was slow-moving.

Finally in but we waited about half an hour to get a Q number then up to level 3 and waited further half hour to go in. The nurse is about in her 50s, very motherly and friendly, she heard Kyrell talking away and commented that he speaks quite alot at his age. She is a teochew and so is many who lives in Hougang. So we asked Kyrell to speak his limited teochew words "Tor Ti Kor" (where is it?) and "Bor" (no/don't have).. we had a good laugh. The elderly nurse asked "Have you eaten?" in teochew and we get Kyrell to reply.. he din quite get it, close but very cute.

Then his weight and height is taken, very good at 90% percentile. Weighs about 11.5kg and 78cm tall.

He did not cry when he was jabbed, just a small cry and then he is ok, like always. My brave baby. Then when out of the room, he wanted his "baobao" aka bread, he must be hungry :p

We went on to Philips @ Toa Payoh to get something then to Ikea (read :AGAIN!) for our lunch. On the journey, Kyrell fell asleep but was up when we reached. We ordered broccoli, potato, pasta for him + he shared my salmon with me. He also had his fruit pudding+bread which I brought along. What a hearty meal and he loves his greens! Was pointing us to give him the broccoli which is really just plain steamed greens. I am so glad that he do not hate them.

Labour Day - 1 May 09

It is holiday today, we plan to stay home and not go anywhere. Kyrell spent his day playing, watching DVD, eating and sleeping. While in his play yard, he busied himself with bricks, sorter and whatever toys he can find in there. I remembered last year, on same day, we also spent our day at home and Kyrell is only 4.5 mths old. Hardly able to lift his head up while on his tummy. Now he is standing and walking. Time flies and sometimes, I wished time will slow down so I can forever hold him in my arm....

Kyrell 'build' this himself, we did not even know until we saw it. Basically made up of 3 bricks, building on top of each other then he pop the whole stick into the hole of the bowl hehe.. not complicated to us but I think for them, it is quite a small accomplishment :)
